MAP Initiatives / Programs

MAP’s initiatives and programs unite prevention, education, and collaboration efforts across Michigan to combat human trafficking and support survivors.

Community

What is a Community Group?
MAP Community Groups consist of compassionate and motivated citizens who work together to address slavery in their community; they are led and organized by local volunteers.

We recognize that we can do more together than we can as individuals or disconnected groups. Through Community Groups we seek to build a collaborative network that help people use their gifts, talents, and resources to more effectively address human trafficking and its root causes.

How does it work?
Community Groups meet regularly (usually monthly or quarterly). They conduct awareness activities and engage in service projects in the local community. They provide opportunities for community involvement by developing a presence in the local community focused on addressing slavery and injustice.

Community Group leaders stay connected with MAP staff to stay updated on the anti-human trafficking movement. MAP provides access to resources, assist in developing creative and effective approaches for community engagement and helps foster collaboration between others active in the anti-trafficking movement.

MAP Community Groups are currently active in cities across Michigan such as Ann Arbor, Detroit, Troy, Mid-Michigan, Southwest Michigan, and more! For more information on how to start a community group in your town contact info@map-mi.org.

Collaboration

Awareness

MAP is dedicated to bringing the problem to the forefront of public consciousness through education, awareness events, partnerships, and service to our community.

Abolitionist Program

The Abolitionist Program is a digital series that educates and encourages the use of social media to research, learn, and share reliable information. This is a great way for individuals to use their influence to make an impact in the fight to end modern day slavery.

This program digs deeper into understanding human trafficking, engages individuals in important conversations, provides hands-on learning and connects a community of Abolitionists all over the state of Michigan!
